Our Hardest Days in the Taurus Mountains | Bike Touring Turkey Episode 5

As we push deeper into Turkey’s Taurus Mountain range, we encounter some of our most challenging days yet. They are complete with aggressive shepherd dogs, icy river crossings, and winds so strong we’re barely able to remain upright.

But with a good deal of perseverance, and the immense kindness of several locals ā€” we carry on through this challenging and stunning terrain.

  1. Again a smashing video. I do envy you two . Both so tough and resilient and top marks for showing the highs and very lows of the trip both physically and emotionally.

  2. …and I thought touring Africa was hard. At least I could get into a warm truck if I couldn’t tolerate the conditions. Well done.

    1. That is very kind of you to say but I have no doubt you encountered many challenges in Africa that challenged you and transformed you. I hope to ride there too one day!

      1. Wow, you guys are so hard core! I am curious – what kind of daily distances were you cycling on mixed terrain like that? My next tour looks to be on some mixed terrain which is new for me.

        1. Hey Brent! It was new to us too! That first day where we had to keep dismounting for streams/trees/mud/etc I think we only made it 25-30km, but on some of the days that were mixed but not so disruptive we’ve done 50-60km. It’s certainly more slow and challenging than paved roads but so beautiful. Good luck with the next tour!
