Similarly stricken whilst in Indonesia I took (spelling debatable) Huo siang, a local remedy available from the local Chinese medicine store. It was a treacle-looking substance with a slight peppermint flavour. It worked quickly and the need to continue dancing the Aztec Two-step betwixt loo and shower ended within hours.
